Google Said to Tap Barclays to Sell Motorola’s Home Business

Bloomberg: “Two people familiar with the situation” tell Bloomberg that Google has asked Barclays to help it sell Motorola Mobility’s Home Business division. The Home Business group sells set-top boxes and other equipment to cable TV providers. Experts say it could fetch $2 billion.

Google paid $12.5 billion for Motorola Mobility in a deal that closed in May of this year. Since then it has announced plans to lay off 4,000 Motorola workers and to shut down approximately 30 Motorola-owned facilities.
