IBM officially announced its new Cloud Manager with OpenStack release this week. The new release provides organizations with a starting point for managing and deploying OpenStack clouds.

In a video interview, Jeff Borek, World-Wide Program Director for Cloud Computing and Systems Software at IBM, details what the Cloud Manager 4.1 release is all about.

Cloud Storage and Backup Benefits

“Cloud Manager with OpenStack is an evolution of an offering we have had in the market for over two years now and was formerly known as IBM Smart Cloud Entry,” Borek said.

Borek explained that in the past the product was an overlay to an organization’s existing VMware vSphere deployments as well as IBM systems director and VM control technology. IBM has evolved the platform over the last two years to increasingly become based on OpenStack.
