Microsoft: Patch for Critical IE Zero-Day Bug Coming Friday

Computerworld: Microsoft has developed a permanent fix for a zero-day vulnerability in Internet Explorer that came to light earlier this week. The company had previously released a workaround for the problem, but some experts had been telling end users to switch to another browser. It will release the permanent patch on Friday. “This Friday, Sept. 21, we will release a cumulative update for Internet Explorer through Windows Update and our other standard distribution channels,” blogged Microsoft’s Yunsun Wee. “We recommend that you install this update as soon as it is available.”

The update will also address four other security vulnerabilities in IE.
