HP, IBM Lead a Growing HPC Server Market: IDC

eWeek: Research firm IDC says that the high-performance computing (HPC) market is booming. Although unit shipments are down slightly, average selling prices are up. IDC predicts that HPC revenue will grow 7.1 percent this year to hit $11 billion. The market could top $14 billion by 2016.

HP is the HPC market leader with 30.5 percent of the market. IBM follows closely behind with a 29 percent share. Dell, Cray, Fujitsu, SGI, Appro and Dawning all saw HPC revenue increases during the most recent quarter.
