Reuters: Unnamed sources tell Reuters that Dell is the company making a $2.15 billion bid to purchase Quest Software. In March, Quest agreed to a purchase by Insight Venture Partners for $23 per share, with the provision that Insight would have the right to match rival offers. On Thursday, Dell revealed that it had received a competing bid for $25.50 per share, but did not say which company had made the bid.

Quest, which makes software which monitors network traffic, is one of Dell’s five largest partners.
