Dell Buys Application Modernization Firm Clerity

Computerworld: For the second day in a row, Dell has announced that it is purchasing an enterprise software firm. This time, Dell will buy Clerity Solutions, which offers technology for transitioning legacy mainframe applications to modern distributed or cloud-based environments.

The companies did not disclose the financial details of the acquisition. Clerity’s 70 employees will become part of Dell’s services division.

Earlier this year, Dell hired former CA Technologies CEO John Swainson to lead its software efforts. Experts say the company is likely to continue its spree of buying software firms under Swainson’s leadership.
