TPM: Yesterday, several news outlets reported that NSA Director Gen. Keith Alexander had warned that the hacktivist group Anonymous would have the capability of taking down the U.S. power grid by 2014.

But hackers associated with the group seem amused by the thought that they would have that capability–or that they would even want to turn off the nation’s power supply. YourAnonNews tweeted, “Why would Anons shut off a power grid? There are ppl on life support / other vital services that rely on it. Try again NSA. #FearMongering.” A blog post at AnonOps Communications echoed, “Ridiculous! Why should Anonymous shut off power grid? Makes no sense! They just want to make you feel afraid.”
