GigaOm: Amazon Web Services is launching a new homegrown NoSQL database known as DynamoDB. The new tool will help the company meet the growing demand for non-relational databases that can handle big data. DynamoDB will run on solid state drives (SSDs) to provide fast access to data.

Amazon is offering DynamoDB for free for up to 40 million of requests per month, with prices beyond that starting at $.01 per hour and $1 per GB of storage.
