Fortune: Resell site Gazelle.com has reported a 50 percent increase in people selling their Samsung smartphones–particularly the Galaxy S II–since the verdict in the Apple patent lawsuit. “Consumers seem to be jumping ship,” said Gazelle.com’s Anthony Scarsella. “We expect this trend to continue, especially with this latest verdict.”

However, many of the people who are selling their old Samsung phones appear to buying new Samsung phones to replace them. Global Equities’ Trip Chowdhry reports, “Following Apple and Samsung August 24th verdict, customers rushed to buy Samsung Galaxy S III this weekend, with some stores reporting stock outs.”

Some wonder whether the shift in sales is related to the lawsuit verdict at all.  Fortune’s Philip Elmer-DeWitt writes, “It’s also possible that customers just like the S III’s larger screen.”
