Guide to Using Open-Source Software to Develop Web Applications

MySQL: Today, more enterprises are turning to open-source software to help them deliver Web applications for the lowest cost. Typically, they pick and choose different open-source programs to meet their needs. For example, they might run an Apache Web server, a JBoss application server, a LifeRay portal, and so on.

While this approach does have some benefits, it can be costly and time-consuming to integrate all of these disparate tools together. To solve that problem, Sun offers the GlassFish Portfolio, which includes some of the best open-source software available, combined in one package, that comes with enterprise-class support.
