Wikipedia, Google Protest US Antipiracy Proposals

Associated Press: Today, a number of websites are protesting a pair of Internet-related bills–the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA)–which are under consideration by Congress. For example, Wikipedia has shut off all access to its English-language content for 24 hours, and Google has blacked out the logo on its home page with a link to information about the bills.

Opponents of SOPA and PIPA say that the legislation would lead to censorship of the Web. Their proponents say the legislation would only stop the spread of pirated content.
