PCWorld: Twitter has filed a federal lawsuit in San Francisco against what it calls “five of the most aggressive tool providers and spammers.” They include JL4 Web Solutions (a.k.a., TweetAttacks), TweetAttacks’ principal officer Jayson Yanuaria, TweetAdder, TweetBuddy and Garland E. Harris. “With this suit, we’re going straight to the source,” the company blogged.

Twitter claims it has spent at least $700,000 on anti-spam efforts aimed at countering the impact of the defendants’ actions.
