Torvalds Receives 2012 Millennium Technology Prize

Cnet: The Technology Academy of Finland has announced that it will award a 2012 Millennium Technology Prize to Linux creator Linus Torvalds. It awards the prize, one of the technology industry’s most prestigious honors, every two years in order to highlight “technological innovation that significantly improves the quality of human life, today and in the future.”

Torvalds will receive the award at a ceremony on June 13, which will also recognize Japanese stem cell researcher Dr. Shinya Yamanaka.
