Study: IT Skills Gap Caused by New Technology, Lack of Resources

ZDNet: According to a new CompTIA study, eight out of ten businesses believe they are negatively affected because their IT workers do not have the skills their companies need. Survey respondents blamed that skills gap on the fast-changing nature of technology and a lack of training resources. Which skills are those firms lacking? Virtualization, process automation, collaboration and networking scored high.

CompTIA’s Terry Erdle concluded, “Millions of businesses are clearly not where they want to be when it comes to optimizing their utilization of technology and in the skill levels of their IT staffs. Even modest improvements in these two areas would yield tremendous benefits in operational efficiencies, business productivity and economic growth.”
