Samsung: ‘We’re Not Doing Very Well in the Tablet Market’

Cnet: At the Mobile World Congress, a refreshingly candid Samsung executive, Hankil Yoon, told an audience, “Honestly, we’re not doing very well in the tablet market.” The company’s Galaxy Tab line of tablets has lagged behind Apple’s iPad and Amazon’s Kindle Fire in the U.S.

However, the company believes its new Galaxy Note line could reverse its previous fortunes. The Note tablets use a stylus, called an S-Pen, which the company says makes it easier to use the tablet to create content. In addition to a 10.1-inch model, the company also sells a 5-inch Galaxy Note, an unusual size in between other tablets and smartphones, leading some to call it a “phablet.”
