Samsung Galaxy 3 Tab Line to Launch July 7

Samsung has announced prices and release dates for its Galaxy 3 Tab series of tablets. The series will include three different models, and they will go on sale July 7, with pre-orders beginning tomorrow.

PCMag’s Sascha Segan reported, “Samsung today announced launch dates and prices for its Galaxy Tab 3 line of tablets, including the first Intel-powered Android tablet available in the United States. The Intel tablet, which is the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch, will start at $399. The smaller, 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3, which will use a Samsung Exynos processor, will start at $299, while the budget, 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3 with a Marvell processor will cost $199.”

USA Today’s Edward C. Baig added, “The latest machines start arriving in the U.S. on July 7, with Samsung starting to accept pre-orders Tuesday. Tab 3 models come in white or a hue Samsung describes as gold brown. Prices are $199, $299 and $399, respectively.”

Mashable’s Pete Pachal observed, “Although Samsung is offering three models in its new Tab line, it’s clear where the focus is: The 8.0 model is the thinnest, has the best camera and has the largest pixel density. It also happens to be $30 cheaper than the iPad mini, a tablet it actually bests with a couple of specs.”

And TechCrunch’s Darrell Etherington commented, “Samsung’s tablet share has [grown] 283 percent over the last year and make up 17.9 percent of all shipments worldwide, according to IDC’s most recent numbers. Once, all mobile players were looking at simplifying their product lines to be more like Apple, but now Samsung is surging on a scattershot approach, and it has the resources and the momentum to keep at it for a while to come.”
