The Wall Street Journal: Kwon Oh-hyun, the new CEO of Samsung Electronics, has issued a call for the company to beef up its software. “A particular focus must be given to serving new customer experience and value by strengthening soft capabilities in software, user experience, design, and solutions.”

The announcement intensified speculation that the Samsung, the world’s top smartphone manufacturer, may abandon Google’s Android mobile platform. Samsung already makes its own OS called Bada, but it hasn’t caught on with consumers. Google’s purchase of handset maker Motorola Mobility also resulted in rumors that other smartphone makers would stop using Android.
