eWeek: As is usually the case in January, this month’s Patch Tuesday release from Microsoft was fairly light–just seven bulletins fixing eight vulnerabilities. Only one of those bulletins was considered “critical;” it addresses two vulnerabilities in Windows Media Player for Windows Vista and XP. The other bulletins address security problems in the Windows kernel and Microsoft developer tools.

Experts say that IT administrators should be sure to deploy the included MS12-006 patch on their Web servers. It addresses BEAST attacks that were demonstrated last September.
