Intel Lowers Q4 Revenue over Hard-Drive Shortage

Computerworld: Intel has lowered its revenue predictions for the fourth quarter by $1 billion. It now expects revenue of $13.7 billion instead of $14.7 billion. The reason for the reduction stems from a hard drive shortage. Flooding in Thailand has halted production at many hard drive component factories. That in turn caused PC manufacturers to cut their production, reducing orders for the processors Intel makes.

Intel will release its quarterly and annual results Jan. 19.
