Intel Enters Smartphone Market After Uphill Battle

InfoWorld: At a CES keynote on Tuesday, Intel CEO Paul Otellini announced that Lenovo and Motorola will release smartphones based on Intel’s upcoming Medfield chips. He demonstrated a Lenovo phone on stage, and predicted that Intel-based devices from both companies will ship this year. “The best of Intel computing is now coming to smartphones,” Otellini said.

For years, Intel has struggled to produce processors for the mobile market, which is dominated by its competitor ARM.
