InformationWeek: IBM has announced a new line of integrated hardware and software solutions that will make it much easier for enterprises to set up private cloud computing environments. Called PureSystems, the line will initially include two products: the PureFlex private infrastructure as a service (IaaS) platform and the PureApplication private software as a service (SaaS) platform. “These are unique in the industry; they address a couple of challenges we’ve been wrestling with for some time,” said IBM’s Rod Adkins. “One is that we’re simplifying the data center through integration by design. The second is that we’re making IT more consumable. We’ve built in more expertise and we’ve simplified the experience.”

Prices for PureFlex start at $100,000, which includes both software and hardware.
