InformationWeek: Making good on an earlier promise, HP has begun to open source the code for the WebOS mobile operating system. It will release the code for the platform’s various tools a little bit at a time, with all of the code becoming available by September. To begin the process, HP has released the source code for the 2.0 version of the webOS developer tool Enyo.
“HP is bringing the innovation of the webOS platform to the open source community,” said HP’s Bill Veghte. “This is a decisive step toward meeting our goal of accelerating the platform’s development and ensuring that its benefits will be delivered to the entire ecosystem of Web applications.”
