Computerworld: Google’s Vic Gundotra today announced that the Google+ social network now has 100 million active users and 400 million people signed up for the service. “It was only a year ago that we opened public sign-up, and we couldn’t have imagined that so many people would join in just 12 months,” blogged Gundotra. “While Google+ is all about creating a better experience across Google, it’s also a destination.”

Gundotra also announced that the company had acquired Nik Software, which makes a photo app called Snapseed. Google+’s chief rival, Facebook, recently purchased a similar app, Instagram.
