The Brainyard: Since 2006, rumors have been suggesting that Google would unveil a cloud-based storage service, and now the company has done just that. Very similar to Dropbox, Google Drive will offer users 5GB of cloud storage for free. For those who need more space, 25GB costs $2.49 per month, 100GB costs $4.99 per month, and 1TB costs $49.99 per month. The paid options also increase users’ Gmail storage to 25GB.

Observers say the service will likely appeal to both consumers and enterprise users.
