Google, Apple CEOs in Secret Patent Talks

Reuters: Unnamed “people familiar with the matter” tell Reuters that Google CEO Larry Page and Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke on the phone last week about a variety of intellectual property matters, including their mobile patent disagreements. Page and Cook haven’t reached a deal, but they have planned additional talks, the sources say. Lower-level executives from both companies are also talking about patent-related issues.

Last week, Apple won a high-profile patent lawsuit and was awarded $1.05 billion in damages from Samsung, which sells smartphones and tablets that use Google’s Android operating system. Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs famously hated Android, calling it a “stolen product.”
