PCMag: Google has acquired Sparrow, a small start-up that made an e-mail client for OS X and iOS. It appears that the purchase was part of the recent “acquhire” trend which sees larger tech firms purchasing smaller firms in order to add talented team members to their staff. The former Sparrow employees will now be working on projects related to Gmail.

Sparrow users can continue using the current apps. However, as a result of the acquisition, “there will be no new features released for the Sparrow apps, other than minor maintenance and bug fixes,” warn the App Store and the Mac App Store.
