PCMag: According to anti-virus vendor Doctor Web, the Flashback Trojan appears to have infected more than half a million Macs, including 303,449 located in the U.S. The malware was particularly successful because it did not require victims to download any files; the Trojan exploited a security vulnerability in Java which allowed it to infect users’ systems when they visited certain websites, such as ustream.rr.nu, bestustreamtv.rr.nu, ironmanvideo.rr.nu, godofwar3.rr.nu and others. Doctor Web noted, “links to more than four million compromised web-pages could be found on a Google SERP at the end of March.”

The company blogged, “This once again refutes claims by some experts that there are no cyber-threats to Mac OS X.”
