European IT Spending Growth Grounds to a Halt, Says Forrester

Computerworld: Thanks to the ongoing economic crisis in the region, European enterprises won’t be spending a lot on IT this year, said Forrester Research. The firm predicts just 0.3 percent growth in overall IT spending in Europe, with declines in key categories like computer equipment and software spending. Spending on outsourcing and consulting will likely rise slightly.

“The most likely result is either near-zero growth or economic recession in 2012, depending on the country,” wrote Forrester’s Andrew Bartels. “The worse case is a possible collapse of the euro and a resulting depression.”
