EU Court Rejects Microsoft Antitrust Appeal, But Shaves 4 Percent off its Fine

Computerworld: The General Court of the European Union has rejected Microsoft’s appeal of a fine related to its antitrust case, but the court reduced the fine Microsoft must pay from approximately $1.35 billion (€899 million) to approximately $1.1 billion (€860 million). Microsoft received the penalty because it failed to disclose information about APIs used in its workgroup server products. That information would have made it possible for competitors to develop interoperable products.

Microsoft is the only company the EU has ever fined for failing to comply with an antitrust-related order.
