Computerworld: A new report from market researchers at Forrester predicts that U.S. IT spending will climb 7.1 percent this year and 7.4 percent next year. Increased spending on software, particularly spending on cloud computing software, will be responsible for much of the increase. By contrast, the company says that hardware spending will grow just 4.5 percent in 2012. The company believes IT hiring will increase by just 2 percent; however, salaries will likely increase.

Forrester forecasts that the U.S. will spend $1.266 trillion in all on IT this year.
