EMC Confirms CEO Change at VMware

Computerworld: VMware has a new CEO. EMC, which owns a majority of VMware’s shares, confirmed that its chief operating officer, Pat Gelsinger, will take over the reins at VMware. Current VMware CEO Paul Maritz will move over to EMC, where he will serve as chief strategist. EMC CFO David Goulden will also move to VMware, where he will serve as president and chief operating officer. According to EMC CEO Joe Tucci, the companies are making the leadership changes in order to capitalize on the opportunities presented by cloud computing.

EMC also announced that it expects to report quarterly revenue of $5.31 billion, a 10 percent increase. It expects earnings to climb 11 percent.
