Time: The FBI is warning computer users that they need to check their systems for the DNSChanger malware before July. This particular brand of malware hijacked users’ systems and routed them to DNS servers controlled by a criminal gang, earning millions of dollars for the group from fraudulent Web ads. With help from Estonian officials, the FBI nabbed the criminals behind the scheme last November, but they left the servers running temporarily in order to avoid disrupting Web and e-mail service for those infected with the malware. However, the FBI says it will shut down those servers in July, so PCs still infected with DNSChanger will have trouble accessing DNS-related Internet services at that time.

The FBI runs a DNSChanger Check-Up Site that allows users to see if they have been infected by the malware and provides information on eliminating it.
