Microsoft’s Bing search engine has long incorporated social data from Facebook and other social media into its search results page. Now users can not only see Facebook posts, but can comment on them directly from Bing.
SearchEngineLand’s Greg Finn reported, “A new Facebook/Bing integration today will further entrench Facebook data into Bing results. Users are now able to interact with Facebook directly within the Bing Search Results Pages, in more than the usual one-way, read-only context.”
Mashable’s Emily Price noted, “Starting Friday, Bing will show comments from Facebook relevant to your search in the sidebar. From that search, you can Like a friend’s post, comment, or see the original post in its entirety on Facebook.”
ITProPortal’s Angela Moscaritolo explained, “The new feature works like this: if you’re searching Bing for gig tickets, for instance, you might see a post from a Facebook friend saying that they are going to the show. Without leaving the Bing search results page, you’ll be able to comment directly on that person’s post saying you’re thinking of going as well.”
TechWorld’s Zach Miners added, “The person has to be signed into Facebook for the feature to work. The tool honors the user’s account settings and won’t share any information without the person’s approval, Bing said.”
