Usually, Google and Asus, which manufactures Google’s Nexus 7 tablet, don’t reveal sales figures. However, Asus CFO David Chang recently spilled the beans.

The Wall Street Journal’s Eva Dou quoted Chang as saying, “At the beginning, it was, for instance, 500K units a month, then maybe 600, 700K. This latest month, it was close to 1 million.”

DailyTech’s Shane McGlaun noted, “Previous Q3 sales estimates for the Nexus 7 tablet estimated sales of between 800,000 and 1 million units for the entire quarter. Chang’s comments suggest that ASUS and Google have sold significantly more Nexus 7 tablets than previously believed.”

Computerworld’s Michael Kan reported, “Taiwanese PC maker Asus saw major growth in its tablet shipments in the third quarter with the launch of Google’s Nexus 7 and projects the shipments will reach at least 10 million units next year. In this year’s third quarter, Asus saw its tablet shipments reach 2.3 million, more than the number of tablets shipped in the previous three quarters combined, according to the company’s earnings presentation on Tuesday.”

According to USAToday’s Edward C. Baig, “Google was forced to postpone a New York City media gathering Monday as Hurricane Sandy approached, so it took to its official blog to announce its new hardware line of Android devices. The search giant is bringing out three new Nexus-branded devices, each running Android software 4.2, the latest flavor known as Jelly Bean.” Those devices included updated versions of the Nexus 7.
