Apple Pays $5 Million to Settle Patent Case

GigaOm: Apple has wrapped up one of its many ongoing patent lawsuits related to its mobile products. Taiwan’s Elan Microelectronics Corp says it has settled its dispute with the iPhone maker out of court. Although the exact details of the settlement weren’t divulged, Apple will reportedly pay Elan $5 million, and the two companies have agreed to a cross-licensing deal.

The International Trade Commission (ITC) had previously found in Apple’s favor in the patent dispute, but Elan was said to be considering appealing the ruling. The patents in question related to multitouch technology.
