Acer Chief Takes Aim at Microsoft Surface

Financial Times: Acer chairman and CEO JT Wang has delivered some harsh criticism regarding Microsoft’s decision to release its own tablet. “We have said [to Microsoft] think it over,” Wang said. “Think twice. It will create a huge negative impact for the ecosystem and other brands may take a negative reaction. It is not something you are good at so please think twice.”

Another Acer exec, Campbell Kan, added, “If Microsoft … is going to do hardware business, what should we do? Should we still rely on Microsoft, or should we find other alternatives?”

Ever since Microsoft announced that it would begin marketing its own hardware, analysts have questioned whether the decision would alienate its current manufacturing partners, like Acer.
