PCWorld: Intel is still pinning its hopes on ultrabooks. The chip maker says that manufacturers are currently working on 75 new ultrabook designs, and prices should drop to around $699 before the end of the summer. “I think we can deliver the best of a tablet, and the best in what (users) know in a notebook,” added Intel’s Kirk Skaugen.

Currently, 21 ultrabooks are on the market, with a starting price around $800. Models that debut later this year will feature Microsoft’s new Windows 8 operating system with touchscreen support.
