Reuters: There’s a new competitor in the mobile browser wars: Baidu, China’s number one search engine, has launched a mobile browser. The company claims the browser is 20 percent faster than competitors like Apple’s Safari and Google’s Chrome and Android browsers. The software will also provide access to apps and play HD video.

China currently has 388 million mobile Internet users–more than its total desktop Internet users. Baidu hopes to get its browser installed on 80 percent of the country’s Android smartphones by the end of this year.
