Lenovo Says RT Tablets up to $300 Cheaper Than Win 8

Bloomberg: David Schmoock, head of Lenovo’s North America operations, is shedding more light on the difference between tablets running Windows 8 and tablets running Windows RT. “RT will play in consumer and retail at very aggressive price points. It will do well but it’s going to be more of a consumer price point play to begin with,” said Schmook.

He added that RT tablets will cost about $200 to $300 less than Windows 8 tablets, which will be priced in the $600 to $700 range. Because it will be compatible with other Windows software, Windows 8 will likely be more appealing to corporations, Schmook noted.

Microsoft plans to release both operating systems for end users in October. Windows 8 will run on processors made by Intel and AMD, but Windows RT will run on ARM chips.
