TGDaily: In its continuing efforts to catch up with Google search, Microsoft is rolling out some major changes to its Bing search engine. The site is rolling out a three-panel design. The traditional “core” search results appear on the large left-side panel. In the middle is a new “snapshot” panel with maps and other results related to the search. On the far right is a new social search panel which searches Twitter and Facebook for relevant posts and “likes.”

According to Microsoft, “When shown unbranded search results, 43 percent prefer Bing results, while only 28 percent prefer Google results.” Still, two-thirds of users stick with Google search, while only 15 percent choose Bing.
