InfoWorld: A company called 3LM has been developing enterprise security features for Android-based devices that rival those on iOS and BlackBerry devices. Because 3LM was acquired by Motorola Mobility and Motorola Mobility is being acquired by Google, Google will soon have the ability to offer this technology to Android users. However, 3LM doesn’t plan to give this technology away–it plans to license it to device manufacturers.

Observers say this could lead to more fragmentation within the Android market as some smartphones and tablets will have security features that others will not. That could create more headaches for enterprise IT departments trying to mange end users’ mobile devices.
