The New York Times: U.S. security firm Symantec has dissolved a four-year-long partnership with China’s Huawei Technologies. According to unnamed sources, Symantec worried that the relationship would prevent it from being able to access classified U.S. government information on cyberthreats. The Department of Homeland Security plans to begin sharing some such data with network providers and antivirus vendors.

Symantec will sell its 49 percent stake in the companies’ joint venture to Huawei Technologies for $530 million. Symantec CEO Enrique Salem said the project “achieved the objectives we set four years ago,” and his company would “exit the joint venture with a good return on our investment.”
