PCMagazine: Several sources are reporting that Web site traffic spiked yesterday around the time that the “not guilty” verdict in the Casey Anthony case was announced. For example, Akami’s Net Usage Index for News shows that page views for news sites jumped from 2 million per second to 3.3 million per second. At the same time, CNN.com/live saw viewers climb to one million — 30 times higher than last month’s average. And ABC News saw five times its usual amount of traffic.
Social media also saw spikes related to the verdict. Twitter users sent at least 325,283 tweets related to the event, and Facebook saw more than 10 posts per second on the topic.
