PCMagazine: Apple has been dealt a blow in its lawsuit against Amazon over the use of the term “App Store.” The judge in the case has refused to grant an injunction preventing Amazon from using the name AppStore for its online marketplace. “There is also evidence that the term ‘app store’ is used by other companies as a descriptive term for a place to obtain software applications for mobile devices,” the judge wrote. She added that the term is “more descriptive than it is distinctive.”

Microsoft has also objected to Apple’s attempts to trademark the term “App Store.”
