PCMag: The revised plans for Apple’s new Cupertino headquarters call for 500,000 square feet of solar panels to be attached to the facility’s roof, covering roughly 2/3 of the roof area. That could potentially generate 5 MW of power, making it the top producing solar energy facility of its kind in the U.S. However, that solar energy still wouldn’t be enough to meet the needs of the building, and it would serve as a backup to a natural gas system.

The proposed building would house 13,000 Apple employees and feature a unique circular design.
