InformationWeek: In a blog post, Microsoft’s Steven Sinofksy explained that the company plans to reveal more details about the next version of Windows at its upcoming BUILD conference for developers. “Building the next release of Microsoft Windows is an industry-wide effort that Microsoft approaches with a strong sense of responsibility and humility,” wrote Sinofksy. “Windows 8 reimagines Windows for a new generation of computing devices, and will be the very best operating system for hundreds of millions of PCs, new and old, used by well over a billion people globally.”

So far, Microsoft has revealed that Windows 8 will involve “live tiles” with touchscreen support and that it will come in versions for x86 chips and versions for the ARM chips that run most smartphones and tablets.
