The Daily: Unnamed sources tell The Daily that Microsoft will soon submit for Apple’s approval a version of its Office productivity suite for the iPad. The sources say the project is complete, but the final release date is unknown.

The Office for iPad suite includes versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The interfaces are similar to the interfaces for OneNote, and the design appears similar to the Metro interface that Microsoft plans to roll out with Windows 8.

According to sources, Microsoft does not plan to release an Android version of Office.
