Cnet: A new report from security vendor McAfee says that the amount of malware targeting phones running Google’s Android OS has climbed 76 percent since last quarter. That means that for the first time ever, Android surpassed Symbian as the most targeted mobile platform.
The report also noted that the amount of malware in general is increasing. The company identified 12 million unique types of malware in the first half of 2011, 22 percent more than in 2010. “Overall attacks are becoming more stealth[y] and more sophisticated, suggesting that we could see attacks that remain unnoticed for longer periods of time,” said McAfee’s Vincent Weafer.
