eWeek: A new report from online job board Dice.com finds that demand is high for IT pros with Linux skills. Among companies surveyed, 81 percent said that hiring Linux talent is one of their top priorities for the year, but 85 percent reported that they had a hard time finding people to fill their available Linux positions. In particular, companies are looking for workers with three-to-five years experience with the open source operating system to fill development and systems administrations positions.

The increasing demand is leading to higher pay for Linux professionals. In 2011, salaries for Linux staffers jumped 5 percent, and bonuses climbed 15 percent.
