IBM Beats Oracle, Microsoft With Big Data Leap

InformationWeek: IBM has launched a new cloud-based product for distributed data-processing and analysis known as InfoSphere BigInsights. Based on Hadoop, InfoSphere BigInsights is available now through the company’s SmartCloud Enterprise cloud computing platform. In addition to Hadoop, the package also includes the Pig programming language, connectors to IBM’s DB2 database and IBM BigSheets.

Oracle and Microsoft have recently announced similar products, but neither of them have products available in the marketplace yet.
